This short film was made by Daniel Madsen to document the first Art In the Orchard in 2011.
Several special events were held during the ten week show including the opening ceremony, a torchlight trail walk with the trail’s poet laureate and the award ceremony and closing party. Attendees were encouraged to vote for their favorite sculpture and donate to the prize which was won by the large metal tiger, “Power”, by Brace Thompson of Easthampton.
Art In the Orchard was paid for in part by the Massachusetts Cultural Council and was presented a Gold Star award by the President of the Massachusetts Senate as an exemplary cultural program funded by local cultural council. Key support from the Easthampton Cultural Council and its members and other community volunteers created this happening and guided its success.
